本剧改编自93岁高龄婚纱设计师桂由美的半生故事。战后，结婚典礼几乎都是穿和服，而1930年出生的桂由美，在东京奥运会举办的1964年，在赤坂开设了日本第一家婚庆专卖店，创业初期苦难接连不断，但凭借着“一切都是为了新娘的笑容”的信念一直坚持了下去。直至如今，作为职业女性企业家的先驱，60年来她身任时尚品牌“由美假发”的创始人兼设计师，始终在日本推广婚纱文化。
